These changes are based largely on the work of my friend, Kevin McKeown, who made a heroic solo traverse of the entire Píndhos range in April 2008, and on my own completion of the ridge walk from Ano Mousounítsa to Rákhes Timfristoú, which is now far the best way to reach Karpenísi and the Agrafa on foot.
I do not recommend trying to emulate Kevin’s feat, especially so early in the year, for that requires a great deal of experience and confidence. He encountered plenty of snow; plus the high places are still largely empty – the shepherds have not arrived and the villages are depopulated.
(A footnote, not included in the pdf: do not attempt the walk on page 131 from Kalí Kómi to Mirófilo via the Paliokámara bridge, unless you are prepared to find your own way. The path has vanished.)
Being a mountaineer for 25 years in Greece I must appreciate the fact that a non local hiker has come across the wild outdoors of Greece and also has kept an interesting track log of where and how.
Keep up the good work Timothy.
Not completely a non-local. I have been in and out of Greece since 1958, lived there for many years, was married to a Greek… But thanks for your message.
